Review highlights
Based on 242 reviewsThe Dog House is recognized for its vibrant, intimate atmosphere, located in a basement setting that contributes to its cozy vibe. The bar is praised for its diverse drink selection, including nonalcoholic options, and attentive staff known for their welcoming and efficient service. While the venue is considered one of the best in Bury, its small size and occasional overcrowding are common observations. Patrons mention challenges with cooling during warmer months and limited parking, often recommending public transport or taxis. Safety concerns have been raised regarding the surrounding area, with some visitors noting uncomfortable encounters, though staff responsiveness in such situations has been acknowledged positively. Live music events receive mixed feedback, as they can limit space or disrupt the preferred ambiance. Overall, The Dog House appeals to those seeking a lively yet personal bar experience, albeit with some logistical and environmental drawbacks to consider.
Went for a hen do! So they didn't have food. They did have a variety of drinks, including non-alcoholic It was situated in a basement, they did play music. Parked around the corner near the church.
Staff were cool. Mrs thinks her drink was spiked she was very poorly the next day. She knows what a hangover feels like. This wasn't it. Good Venu tho. Probably one of the best bars in bury but small.
Warming welcome staff always gave your drink ready for when you walk in. Only problem this place has too warm in summer no cooling down well done. Grag and his team is good. Will visit soon when they open again. Parking is not easy at this location so best is to use bus or taxi.
I can not thank the staff enough for the way they stepped up and acted this weekend (Saturday 14th September). Me and my friend were followed by two young lads. After us telling them NO and to leave us alone four times in a previous pub. They continued to pester us in this one too. After asking to join strangers (two women and two men) out of feeling unsafe they continued to approach us. I then told staff that if they continued I'd be asking for help. Minutes after returning to my seat they approached again and next thing the security threw them out. Moments later the bar staff came up to us tested our drinks and replaced them. I cant thank a young blonde girl behind the bar for making me feel safe enough to approach her, two lads behind the bar for acting swiftly in regards to our drinks, especially the blonde lad with glasses. And to the bouncer for being our safety net, when we weren't safe. I've tried to contact the pub with emails and calls but to no avail. I'm truly grateful for your incredible staff!!
It's a weird one because I absolutely adore blind tiger in general but I can't give 5 stars because recently they absolute insist on putting a guitarist on on weekends till really late where it takes up half the already very small floor space. Last time we went and they played bangers on the speakers while the guitar guy had a break and everyone was clearly preferring that and it's not that the guitarist is bad it's just I feel like they don't read the room. Staff are great and it's the only decent place to go later on in Bury but they need to understand that no-one wants an acoustic guitarist till 2am just put the DJ on and utilise the space better!
A little dark but friendly people as well as staff. Toilet smell of bleach what a bonus! Cosy little place. Love the interior and the beams.
